Unfurling...
This morning the sun was shining! Yesterday's deluge has left the world saturated...For the first time for months my riverside path was squelchy, and the river itself swirled past like a liquid chocolate, carrying silt from the fields out towards the Wash estuary. I took a little detour into the meadow and found the adder's-tongue fern in its usual place. I photographed hawthorn blossom and common terns, but my favourite image was these unfurling leaves of the wine red variety of Norway maple. Just such an intense colour and with a remarkable variety of textures....
The rest of the day was spent tidying, preparing and special evening meal, and then sharing cups of tea, stimulating discussion and laughter with one of my best friends, who I see far too rarely. Her daughter is a talented photographer, who is hoping to go to university to study photography in the Autumn. I'd really like to make time to go and see her final Exhibition in June, but it's slap bang in the middle of the field season, so we'll have to see...
