Prometheus

Greek Titan Prometheus projects above the orange of the dusty carpark in the National University on Conakry, Guinea.

He was a champion of mankind, known for his wily intelligence, who became famous for stealing fire from Zeus and giving it to mortals.

During the Greek War of Independence, Prometheus became a figure of hope and inspiration for Greek revolutionaries and their philhellene supporters. Karl Marx was greatly influenced by the story of Prometheus, and called him "the greatest saint and martyr of the philosopher's calendar". Since then, Prometheus has become a general symbol for socialism and communism.

Looks like his influence and inspiration extended well beyond Europe...
