Grey Heron

Woke up really unwell today.

I was a bit fed up and was just pottering round upstairs and noticed something move out of the corner of my eye through the window.

I couldn't believe it, it was a massive Grey Heron, just sat very still watching the ground in the field behind our house.

I have never seen one away from water before and couldn't work out why it was here.

We live quite close to Woodland and we often see Foxes, sometimes Owls and once a colourful Male Pheasant walked across our front garden but I've never seen a Heron anywhere near here before.

The picture is not very clear because I took it at a great distance through the window. I went out to the bottom of the garden to try to get a closer picture but it saw me, spread it's big beautiful wings and flew away with it's long legs dangling down. I tried to get one of it flying away but I wasn't quick enough. I had no idea they were so big!
