Back In The Fields
One of the joys of living in the country is watching the tractors doing whatever it is they do to the fields in the Spring. This John Deere was creating a mini dust-storm 200 meters from the edge of town as we drove past this morning. Reminded me of a book launch we had at our previous home several miles out of town a few years back: Everyone was dressed in white, which attracted thousands of sneaky black insects that a tractor had aroused while ploughing an adjacent field. We quaffed wine, talked rubbish and pretended nothing was amiss while covered in flesh-mangling black critters . . . ah, the joys and resilience of the literary set!!!
