A Guest Inspects the Silver

... by the light of flickering candles, at the 101 Gaudy, a college 'Feast'. Although silver, I don't think that this particular tankard is of great antiquity or of enormous value (unlike some of the 16th century ones that we have).

Here was another good opportunity to meet old friends, to be introduced to new ones, and to have a chat with guests from our sister college in Cambridge.

We have to pretend, at least, that the food and drink were subsidiary to the social intercourse. As usual, however, the victuals and libations were interesting and of high quality, as you may see from the menu linked here. Some of the combinations, such as the pork (with nice crackling) served along with a pear tart and rhubarb, seemed 'unusual' if not slightly bizarre.

For the record, I took a photograph of the lamb course.

And here is what the marshmallow and iced parfait looked like.

I finished the evening with several large doses of our Private Cask Islay Single Malt (46% ABV), and I did not feel supremely lively when I woke up the next morning in order to keep an appointment with a physiotherapist!
