Light and dark

It's been a rough 18 hours. My 16 year old brother has been badly beaten, and is currently in a critical (but thankfully stable) condition. He has numerous fractures to his face and skull, internal bleeding, fractures in his.spine.

He has REM happening, which is a source of hope. But it could still go either way at this point in time.

Needless to say, I am in a state of shock. People who know the full extent of what's going on are being incredibly loving.

As with any situation, I'm trying not to dwell on the negatives, but also not focusing on hope - when hopes are shattered, it is often more devastating. I'm looking at both the light and the dark. Being as REALISTIC as I can be. Taking the black and the white and making those shades of grey.
