First egg tonight!!!
A quick change of blip plan as we have one egg in the nest, shortly after I thought that she had settled for the night.
The blip is our female. She perches on the fence before flying in to the box, so you can predict her behaviour.
My original blip was to be the cakes for the book club meeting today, which was held at my house. The cake stand, which hasn't been used for about 20 years, was given to me when I was in my teens. My aunt and great aunt owned a restaurant in Elgin and when they retired in the late 1960's they gave all the nieces a silver plated cake stand and a flower vase as mementos from the restaurant.
Whenever I see it with goodies it reminds me of the days of "high tea" or "afternoon tea" depending on which part of the country you are in!! It was great excitement to visit the aunts at the restaurant for tea. You had to eat a slice of bread and butter from the bottom tier, a scone from the middle tier, before being allowed a cake from the top tier!!! (Well behaved child!!)
I was amaze to look at the pack of doyleys and find that they cost 2 shillings and 6 pence for 68. To translate that in to today's currency is 25P, 12.5P *. I think they must have been bought about 45 years ago and given to me by my mother! I've certainly have taken time to use them!!!
*Thanks Dave
Afternoon tea is becoming more fashionable again, well, if you wait long enough everything comes round again!!
We are over to Worcestershire tomorrow to see G'dad and returning home on Friday.
Hope we don't miss too much egg laying activity whilst we are away. I had hoped to monitor progress!!!
