Air - please read explanation!
The Newcomen Engine was the first engine to use steam, but actually it was an atmospheric engine - cooling the steam allowed AIR pressure to power the engine. The first Newcomen engine was built only a few miles from the BCLM, and the BCLM has a reconstruction - normally it is in a working state, but to commemorate the 300th anniversary of the Newcomen Engine, the BCLM reproduction is currently being restored ready for the date in July.
Panasonic GH2, 14-140mm, around 7:30, when the light was difficult (low sun, soot and whitewash) - my main project for the day was recording the departure of the unique steam-powered narrowboat President (and Kildare) fro the BCLM for the Jubilee celebrations in June - President was due to depart at 08:00, which it did, and it had precedence.
