Red Squirrel

We decided to go for a walk early this morning.

Over the last few days the weather has been lovely and sunny and by lunchtime the sun has been hidden behind the clouds. Therefore we decided it would be good to head off early.

It was cold in the shade but lovely in the sunshine. I had just taken out my camera hoping to see something to take a photo of when we were aware that something was moving in the tree beside us. The dog started to get quite excited. Then we noticed this little red squirrel. It has been a long time since I have seen a red squirrel in the forest around here.

The sun was at the wrong side of the tree so it's little face was in the shade most of the time.

I would have liked to get a little closer but it didn't want to get closer to us.
