Down the tracks ...

I took this quite early this morning as I walked to work. The embankments here were the subject of some controversy a few years ago as Network Rail secured permission to cut down many of the beautiful trees that grew there for fear they would shed their leaves (doubtless of the wrong kind) on the tracks. Anyway, much chainsaw savagery followed, and for a while things looked bare. But this morning it would be difficult to imagine a prettier embankment, and I like the way the slopes frame the tracks - that themselves seem to stretch away forever, to who knows where.
