Leaps and Bounds
We spent today in Bellevue, about 80 miles south, to watch grandson B, age 8, play soccer and celebrate granddaughter Z's first double digit birthday.
The amount of energy expended by B (number 43) and his teammates, as well as the opposing team, was remarkable -- especially since B and his sister had just come home from three days of downhill skiing with their parents. He put his all into every minute of the game.
After the game, Z enjoyed a few minutes of her own energy release, cavorting on the field. Oh, to be that lithe and limber!
Z had requested a homemade chocolate cake with her mother's "famous buttercream frosting," and did much of the frosting preparation herself, from using the Kitchenaid to mix it up -- and giving the tired soccer star the beater to clean, a very generous gesture -- to spreading the frosting and applying the pink frosting flowers, after her mother had written the birthday message.
Both Z and B are growing by leaps and bounds, learning and applying new skills, and will be ready for whatever the future holds for them, thanks to good parents and the love and support of their extended family.
(P.S. I am now two days behind on commenting, but I promise to catch up soon!)
