Box Blight

Mr Down in the Dip is wielding a chainsaw to cut out some sick looking box plants. I'm fairly sure they have box blight which seems to be a new disease of box hedging. I noticed that two bushes in my garden were not very well and checked it out on line. I am very sad as box hedging is really the backbone of my garden. I can cope with loosing these two but not the whole lot. The only effective treatment is to slash and burn the infected ones and then to spray the healthy ones left with some kind of toxic pesticide, which I hate and have never before used in the garden before. Boo hoo.
