17 Heriot Row, Edinburgh
Now a private home, 17 Heriot Row is the childhood home of Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894), Scottish author and poet. He is probably most famous for Treasure Island, Kidnapped and Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde.
The house has a website, though the door has obviously been painting a more cheerful colour in recent days! The website has photos of the inside of the house, and it looks as though you can even stay there overnight B&B! I love the old Edinburgh street lamps that are at the foot of the stairs leading up to each doorway along the street.
For the historically interested, here is the Wikipedia article about Robert Louis Stevenson.
