Modern Art...
We went to Glasgow today and Bethany, Ewan and myself went for a wee wander while Mrs TFP helped Maw-In-Law TFP go dress shopping.
We went to see Central Station to take a few longish exposure/tiny aperture shots. Would have been nice to get a higher vantage point but seeing as the double buggy laden with our day out supplies needs 30 seconds prep time to turn a 90 degree corner, I reckoned a double set of stairs and no lift was kinda out of bounds.
We also went for a wee natter with Shine and Celeste and then visited the horsey man with the cone on his head and decided to take a wee walk round the modern art gallery behind him.
This is what you see before you. This is an installation by a Glasgow based artist by the name of Jim Lambie who graduated from the Glasgow School of Art in 1994.
There were various bits and bobs around the main hall here but from this angle you will be able to see the floor design which is called The Strokes. On the floor in front of me is a piece called Sonic Reducer which is a number of concrete blocks with some vinyl LPs in stacked inside them. Furthar back on the floor is a stack of coloured half chairs, mirroring and handbags called Seven and Seven Is or Sunshine Bathe the Golden Glow. If you have very keen eye sight, you may even be able to pick out my favourite piece which was Stars of Cancer which is a few shaped mirrors on stalks hanging from the ceiling at the back.
Not the kind of art I'd pay for and take home but interesting to look at.
