The Memphis Belle

The day after the hen party, and we had time for Sunday lunch together before I had to head to the airport for my flight back to Brussels.

My daughter and soon to be son-in-law live in Cheshire, on a new housing estate developed on land of the old Burtonwood RAF airbase

In the second World War it was the biggest American airbase in Europe. They used to fly bombing missions from there using the B-17 Flying Fortress - the Memphis Belle being the most famous.

This pub/restaurant was also built on the old airbase and named after the plane. The food was delicious!
