House Finch
On my walks recently, I've talked to people who've mentioned there have been a lot of cardinals hanging around in the ocotillo. Even one of my guests said she saw one out back of my yard.
So I thought I'd stalk one today. No luck. But I did get this great shot of a male House Finch. He was so red, I almost actually mistook him for a cardinal at first glance. But I guess I had cardinal on the brain.
These blooming ocotillo figure prominently in nature this time of year, especially for birds. I haven't seen any yet, but hummingbirds are attracted to the flowers for their nectar.
I suppose I'll be soon stalking them.
