Runhills

An Englishman's home...........

....is his Castle.

What a great morning, I'm glad that I chose today to make my comeback to longer Sunday morning runs.

Stewart and I set off rather later than usual for a run from Fell Foot. We set off with coats, gloves and hats on because despite the sunshine the East wind was biting. We revisited one of our regular haunts by running into Fiendsdale passing Langden Castle which you can see in the picture. Despite it's name it is not a grand building although it is probably quite grand for a shooting lodge.

We made our way back to Fiendsdale head where someone has decided that a lot of work needs to be done. I can only assume that it is to improve access and protect the 'Fragile Environment'. At Fiendsdale head there was a mini excavator and they have laid slabs across the bogs and down towards the fell access point, they have also dammed a stream to create a small pond on Websters Meadow.

At '1707' the high point North of Fairsnape Fell there has been more activity and they have laid matting over the peat hags, erected new fencing and changed the shape of some of the land.

We crossed to Paddy's Pole on Fairsnape and descended South via the zig zags where another excavator had been at work 'improving' what was a perfectly adequate path.

I have added a few pictures of some of the work here.

I suppose they see it as improvement, it will take a while before it has settled down again so that I think of it as such.

Enough of that, Daughter #2 has been threatening to start blipping for a while and today was the day, she doesn't think she will blip everyday just when something catches her eye, if you would like to have a look at her first entry in her journal it is here.
