Not to be.
Before the Easter holidays, we thought we were going to have new neighbours. Two Jackdaws started to build a nest in the dovecote in our garden.
They had been very busy and there was a lot of toing and froing with twigs. Many twigs were discarded and a sizeable pile of rejected twigs had started to build up under the dovecote.
When we returned home last night, we were really excited to see if Mrs Jackdaw was sitting on the nest. Unfortunately the gardener has been busy whilst we were away. Flowerbeds have been weeded, grass cut and all the rejected twigs gone. I guess there was too much noise and disruption for the birds and they have left the nest empty.
Such a shame, I was really looking forward to have some new neighbours.
