The Sentinel
A glorious day, we abandoned everything and headed up the mountain - Rosskerrig, the one behind our house. As mountains go, it's not particularly huge but its deceptive - you think you've reached the top and find yourself teetering on the edge of a huge ravine which has to be descended and of you scramble again - this happens several times and involves a bit of undignified skidding down on one's bum. The views from the top are mighty. We were watched though - this chap was obviously the lookout for we didn't meet the rest of the herd. Apart from him we saw a mountain hare, the skeleton of a goat glistening whitely, larks, a chough and the members of the Cork Mountineering Club - thankfully going up as we came down. Look at the colour of that sky!
Thank you for all the lovely comments on Will Redbeard aka son number 1 - all the men in my life seem to be bearded now apart from son number 2 - I'm not sure if a beard is possible with a Mohican??
