Goldfinch, in living color
It takes awhile for the male goldfinches to come into their full color. They can look pretty scruffy for a few days as they make the transition from winter to spring feathers. I love seeing the flashes of bright yellow in the trees and bushes as they flit around.
For those of you curious about the saga of the bushtit nest (here and here), I think there are babies in the nest now. The parents are acting very different, making frequent visits to the nest. I don't know if we'll ever see the babies until they fledge, they're so far down in the tube!
