Sea Bass
Well this is not one of my much sought after saltwater European Sea Bass, but it is my automated trophy of a freshwater Spotted Bass that come from the Gulf states of America. Awarded to me in 2000 when I left my last architectural job in Manchester. I just tried it out and it still sings a medley, whilst flapping its tail and lip-syncing, of Don't Worry Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin; and Take me to the River (Drop me in the Water) by Talking Heads. You may have gathered I am a bit of a fishing nut.
What's the photo got to do with anything about my day? Nothing much really, other than I have been working at the computer all day and only stopped to watch the Grand National. The good news from that was that lady Jockey Katie Walsh came good for me and won me about £12 by coming 3rd on Sea Bass - for a £2 stake. The best finish ever for a lady jocky and a brilliant ride. I only bet on Sea Bass to 'Plaice' but it almost won it! My dad would have laughed so lets hope it is an omen to improve my fishing fortunes after that particular illusive species.
For some odd reason I had agreed to put the bets online via Betfair for wife, daughter, mother, sister and brother in law this morning. All lost and not a penny received back so far to cover their bets. Horse betting is a mugs game but there is only one mug here, and we know who that is!
Sorry but my Friday 13th tip from yesterday I'm So Lucky came home unluckily 16th at 25:1.
