The one I'm going to take

The World's Greatest Photographs

A 1946 book that I've had for most of my life. Beautiful black and white snapshot of a long lost world - a year after the second world war and such positive and diverse views of the world - along with a mushroom cloud over nagasaki, soldiers on omaha beach and a mosquito (second world war twin engined fighter rather than insect!) flying over mount everest.

I know these pictures almost off by heart but I've never before fully recognised the picture about 2 minutes away from my office. Scott monument, the balmoral (sure it was called something else then), carlton hill....

Not much change - they still had the trams that are going back onto Prince Street at some point in the distant future.

Original picture was by Alfred Furness
