Fun on the water
A wonderful sunny day today, and unbelievably no wind. Spent some time this afternoon down at the Heritage Loch, walking, and taking some photographs. I had quite a choice today, as I took lots of ducks and swans, and there was a lot of activity on the water. The watersports centre run lots of courses in watersports of all kinds during the school holidays, and we enjoyed watching this group of youngsters getting the hang of things, under close supervision.
The Heritage Loch was built on land gifted to the town by James Hamilton, who owns the farm overlooking this land. As one of the last projects they did, the East Kilbride Development Corporation constructed this loch on ground that was under water in medieval times, and had been drained long ago. Mains Castle, which was restored from a ruin in the seventies, overlooks the Loch. As you can imagine, it is a very popular area with the people of EK, and very well used.
