Dalarran

Dalarran is a care home in Langholm. The only one. In fact, it's the only care home in Eskdale.

I lead a monthly worship service here and pay other visits too, often when a resident is nearing death. The staff are wonderful. The care and commitment they show is exemplary.

Someone who should know tells me that the population in Eskdale has the most rapidly increasing average age in Scotland. Despite this, Dalarran is under threat of closure and there is no sign of the necessary funding for a planned new care home at Townfoot.

Poor public transport provision in the area would make it impossible for many relatives to visit their loved ones if there were no care facilities in our valley. That would be wrong.
