Rain, Hills, Beaches & Eagles
We braved hail showers and a chilly Northerly wind to walk up the Glen Meavaig estate tracks to the new North Harris eagle observatory . Sutherland managed to cope (just!) and Finlaggan slept in his 'mountain' buggy.
I would love to say we saw an eagle however all we saw was a couple of ravens and a buzzard. Golden eagles which there a pair living in the Glen obviously aren't keen on hail showers! Better luck next time? The observatory has been very busy since it opened in March with over 100 names in the visitor book.
In the afternoon we also made the most of the then bright and cold conditions by visiting our favourite West Harris beach Traigh Nisabost for sandcastles, frisbee and a wee spot of wildlife watching. I spotted a pair of Great Northern Diver's just off the surf line busy fishing.
Holidays are all about relaxing, exploring, eating, drinking and sleeping. We are all of that here on Lewis.
