Gillipaw's Journal

By Gillipaw

Palace of Art, Bellahouston Park, Glasgow

Designed by Launcelot Ross for the Empire Exhibition of 1938. It was the only building in the exhibition designed to be permanent, and housed the City's art collection until 1951. Since then it has been used by the community and after recent refurbishment is now the Centre for Sports Excellence for talented athletes in the West of Scotland.

I had planned to swim this afternoon, but decided to enjoy the sunshine and have a long walk instead. Unfortunately there was a big van parked right outside, so I couldn't get a good shot of the full facade. A good excuse to come back soon, as I really should visit this park more often.
