Victorian graffiti

The rocks above the Cow and Calf on Ilkley moor are covered in carvings of peoples names, where they have come from and the date of their visit. The majority are from the Victorian era and many of the visitors seem to have come from Leeds. Ilkley railway station opened in 1865 and the town and moors proved very popular with city visitors.
