Spikey

I have blipped Spikey before, but since then Spikey and wife (Pixie) have moved in! They are in fact Madagascan Tenrecs, not miniature hedgehogs.
Tenrecs are not hedgehogs. They got the hedgehog part of their name because they look like hedgehogs and they also behave very similar. When a tenrec comes around the corner you see nose, more nose and then a face. Weighs between 100g -250g. Kids are enjoying them very much!the spikes by the way, are not sharp, really just thick hair. I suppose any predator that want to eat them must have pretty strong digestive juices or expect to bear the consequences of a high fiber diet!
Pixie was in a very grumpy mood today and did not want to leave her little house -hissing at the slightest touch. They do go into hibernation and I think she just did not want to be disturbed.
