High in the sky - Millenium Bridge
On to Monday - Yet another gloomy wet day. Decided to see Westminster Abbey, but when we got there, the queue was 200m long and clearly going to take over an hour in the rain to get in. We quickly decided to about turn, down back past teh houses of parliament and onto one of the river cruises instead.
Not cheap (but then what is except for the museums) but it was a nice ride down the river seeing all the sites and on to the Thames Barrier. That was worth the visit - It was the lowest tide of the year but one of the spans was raised - you see the huge dimensions of each of the 3700 tonne barriers. Impressive feat of engineering. As we arrived, the tide was turning and was likely to be 7m in just 5 hours. Its quite possible that the barrier might have to be closed for that.
This image was from the boat. People scurrying across the bridge to get out of he rain.
