I'm quite a fan of modern architecture - particularly if it works in a human environment.

This sort of rubbish on the other hand seems to ignore any sort of design tenet that could make it attractive. I read that the architect - obviously a man with ideas above his station (no pun intended) even tried to get it listed. Has he never heard of the Bauhaus? Less is more?

Inhuman scale - tick
gratuitous and pointless detail - tick
vile material - dogmeat granite - tick
involving the destruction of a perfectly nice older building - tick

I have to come past here far too often and it's always depressing
