La Isla De Tabarca
We took a short boat trip from Alicante to the island of Tabarca today. It's the only inhabited island on the Costa Blanca and would appear to survive on day-trippers like ourselves. There's not a great deal to see on the one hour walk around the island but it does have a quaint rustic charm. We asked the local cop who was quite possibly the islands only one, which of the five or so restaurants he recommended. He pointed us in the direction of a house with some tables overlooking the sea with a plaque on the wall which was dedicated to another ex-local cop. We think it was our cop's mother's house. We enjoyed a typical Spanish lunch consisting of a mixed salad, bread and allioli for starters followed by calamares, paella marisco then strawberries and cream. All of this was helped on it's way with a cold beer and a bottle of vino rosado. Bliss!
