The sun tried to escape

This morning I planned my run to get me to the top of Maungawhau in time to get the sunrise. Lots of clouds; big black and dark grey ones. Nearly changed my mind; however, I tend to just follow the route I start out on. I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the summit to see that there were gaps in the clouds, and the sun's rays were streaming through in places.

I like this picture, as it shows in the middle distance Waiheke Island in the Hauraki Gulf, and beyond it in the far distance the higher and paler hills of the Coromandel Peninsula forming the eastern shore of the gulf. In the foreground are the lights and buildings of the inner eastern city, with Orakei Basin on the left.

This was about as much of the sun as was seen all day. Dreich is a word I have been exposed to on blip, and it certainly describes the way the day has ended up.

This is that stage of the month when I get the large agenda to read (meeting next Tuesday and Wednesday) and this time I'm starting the reading a bit earlier. It means few comments for the next days, and I will catch up in a week.
