Faces of Fiona #54
Tuesday - Fiona's day with us. No workers here today, yea! so we headed to the Aquarium - Sekiu, the new baby sea otter is 3 months old and has she grown! She's very large for her age and can dive to the bottom of the tank. (We saw video of her last week when she was trying to learn to dive..) In the picture at the bottom left, the 3 otters are together - Grandma Lootas, Mom Aniak who is nursing Sekiu in the corner... - you can see her in the photo at the top. Sea otters can dive 300 feet if they have to. Fiona always as a great time there getting as close as she can. Today the strobe-like light in one hallway had her squealing with delight.
I got the afternoon "off" to meet with my lovely book club. - We read The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald --- most (not all) of us have read it long ago but it's still a vivid portrayal of an America of opportunity but who would want to know that set of people? I do wonder why it's that popular and taught that much.
And....tonight we heard a very lively interesting talk at the Seattle Art Museum by a visiting professor of art and scholar of Gauguin about the ways that Gauguin invented his polynesian paradise (the show is up at the museum for a few more weeks)- photographs played a much larger part than I would ever guess.
More than enough for me for today!!!!
