The Clyde
Jumped on the train and headed off to Glasgow today.
Had a wander around in the afternoon, got dragged into some shops and, to balance things out, dragged Samantha and her vertigo onto the 'Glasgow Aye' (or, as they want to call it; 'The Wheel of Glasgow'. I'm pretty sure most of George Square could hear the sweary words as we peaked out 40 or so metres above the ground.
Had a dander down the Clyde for some ten pin bowling and a nice evening's walk along the banks of the river. It was still pretty light to the west as we strolled back and I grabbed this shot from underneath the busy Kingston Bridge. There's a lot of Glasgow in here; back to the busy days of shipbuilding and the giant Finnieston Crane, and forward to the 'City of Culture' days and the site of 1988's Garden Festival, where now the likes of the BBC and STV have their TV studios. There's also the Squinty Bridge crossing the Clyde (nobody calls it the 'Clyde Arc' as far as I can tell) and beyond the Science Museum and the sharp and pointy Glasgow Tower.
Further down river, but just out of view, is the new location for the Transport Museum, the stunning Riverside Museum which we're planning on visiting tomorrow.
