Our new neighbours decided to decimate most of their front garden this weekend, completely changing the dynamic of our close. The close used to be a hidden cove, obscured by their overgrown trees, but now it's open to the wild and less cosy.

I was selfishly annoyed that my neighbour's desire for natural light in their living room had made things slightly worse for me ... but then I noticed how the new light was illuminating our previously shady blossom tree.

I really must thank them for that.
