Cathedral Windows
The new Bunbury Cathedral in Western Australia replaces the old one destroyed by a tornado in 2005.
The new Cathedral contains fourteen full length laminated windows holding specially commissioned art works by very well known and respected 82 year old WA artist Robert Juniper.
A digitized print is held between laminated glass in a ground-breaking new technology. Originally painted on canvas, they are then digitized on a computer. It is really the modern version of stained glass, and has made such a wonderful contribution to the new building.
Juniper has include many aspects of Australian counrtyside and life. He has put a dog in the foreground of the last supper. He has also included Australian flora and fauna and a dingo appears with Noah as he sacrifices meat.
The paintings have captured the biblical scenes using abstraction and a sense of humor.
They are so wonderful and respect the faith they set out to portray, but do so in a wonderfully modern way. They make a visit to the Cathedral a must for any visitor to the region, both religious folk and art lovers alike.
