Norman Warrior

Today we went to Montfitchet Castle. It is the site of an Norman fort which has a quite interesting history, but more importantly for the kids, it is reconstructed and you can wonder round freely, amongst the chickens, ducks and peacocks.

Neither Carys or William liked speaking statues. Will kept saying 'Bit scary Mummy, bit scary.' But we think they enjoyed it and they did ask lots of questions, so maybe they learnt something too. In the armoury you coild try on some helmets. Jim and Carys tried one on, but Will refused. I did read about this helmet and meant to remember it's name, but hey I have had three sleeps since then.

We also visited the Toy Museum, but I think that was more interesting for Jim and I rather than them. A huge number of toys of all eras, a few from ours, but more things our friends had and we were denied, than toys we actually owned.
