Brilliant Bubba!

Prior to our sojurn to the deep south of the UK, well?..Essex, we'd paid a visit to the bookies.

I'll be honest: I'm no gambler, but I do like having the smallest of flutters on a select few sporting events throughout the year, which include the FA Cup Final, the Grand National and The Masters golf tournament.

So, on popping into Ladbrokes last Thursday, I carefully placed a couple of quid on Luke Donald and Sergio Garcia to win. I then said to my fabulous Fiona that she had two pounds to put on any player she wanted. On scouring the list she selected the player whom she thought had the most humorous name and placed a bet at 40/1.

At around 12.30am this morning, on the second play-off hole of the 2012 Masters, that player played a stunning hook shot from the rough - and behind the trees of - the 10th hole to about 10 feet and took two putts to put the ball in the hole. In so doing, he won not only a major golf tournament but also a lovely wide smile from Fiona at the thought of the £80 he'd just put in her pocket!
