inspired by a mural

We spotted this mural in Elephant's Yard, at the back of Kendal library. It was painted by Lucy Gallagher in 2001. I recognise a number of objects relating to the occupations and industries of Kendal - weaving, carpet making, shoe making, sheep rearing, snuff and tobacco production and of course, Kendal Mint Cake.

It is such a boisterous piece of work and looks as fresh as the day it was painted. Kendalians seem justly proud of their town. It is good to be living here with them.
