St George Leagues Club

NRL (Rugby League) is the main Sydney sport (although soccer is played by many more). I don't like it but as we passed a large Sydney club, I decided to jump out of the car and photograph the boys. There is a lot of controversy sorrounding the huge number of gaming machines in the clubs but the government is showing no signs of increasing regulation of gambling as it relies heavily on the revenue that is generated. The clubs, in turn, like to downplay the role of gambling and promote themselves as family friendly. I decided to take the boys inside to have a cup of coffee but we were stopped at the entrance saying we were not allowed in as there was a gaming convention on, and children were barred from all areas. So much for family friendly!! I hate the gaming areas as there is never any daylight (a policy the clubs pursue so you don't get distracted from the machines). This I know for a fact as Brent was once invloved in doing some designs for a club but he pulled out as they did not want the patrons to look out on the beautiful Sydney harbour.
