Dark day, lidded in heavy raincloud.

Did some revising this morning, then, at about 3.30, I drove out to the Docklands again, and this time entered one of the big warehouses. It turned out to be pillared in huge rolls of paper, like entering a subterranean Valley of the Kings. I met a couple of guys and one of them (above) was happy to let me take a portrait. He explained that many of the giant rolls become linings for pizza boxes. He climbed into one of the forklifts and demonstrated how they can deftly pick up a roll (shades of Sigourney Weaver in Aliens) and turn it sideways to check whether the wooden core, around which the paper is wound, is damaged.

I hung about the area too long, got stuck in rush hour traffic on the Sandymount Strand road, and so I was late picking up S and the wean at the creche. My bad, as they say.
