Bear

Strange to find a life size bear confined to a sliver of space along the side of a house in New Orleans! A plaque explains that this bear was on the property of a home that was the refuge for this New Orleans family during Hurricane Katrina. Two years later the family returned for a visit to that refuge and decided the bear must come to New Orleans as a symbol of the city's survival.

My only lament is that the poor bear is squashed into a very small space and must long for what I would imagine to have been a spacious lawn. But we must have our symbols!
