All I Can Say is WOW!

Having kids who are naturally competitive is a killer.

Both of mine play Volleyball - one in USA, one currently in Cyprus.

The elder, Boy, plays with his US College, where he is studying English. He is having a ball right now, and we get to see his matches on a live feed on line.

The Younger, Toolibelle Aurora, is this wee playing for the Scottish Junior Ladies, in the European Cup Finals. These matches aren't broadcast, but there is a live tickertape feed updating the score as it happens.

We weren't expecting the girls to go out there and take gold. They were going for the experience and the games - the Cyprus and Luxembourg teams are far more experienced, and this would be a learning experience for them.

Last night, we sat to watch Scotland V Cyprus. They played them in January in Malta, and our celebrations when they took a set off them, were astonishing. You'd think they had won! last night they did the same thing to us. Lost the first two sets, quite badly, and then came storming back and stole the third, and narrowly missed taking the forth. I sat at the computer, watching the scores updating minute by minute. Tooli's dad was sat behind me on the laptop, doing the same thing. We were chatting online to other parents, all unable to contain our excitement.

Today, I'm sat here myself. Si is bag packing for the Scouts, and another Mum is out wedding dress shopping..... I watched as they again started out by loosing the first two sets. Then laughed as they did their third set trick again. And then did the same with the fourth. My head was exploding with anticipation. My fingers were aching from texting everyone. They went into the last set. - this one is only played to 15.....

1 - 1
1 - 2
2 -2
it climbed. Then Scotland broke away. 8-6 at the end switch. they clawed back. 8 - 8 then 14 12 to scotland. The match stops at 15 in the last set. Luxembourg came back to 14 - 13; there has to be 2 points between the teams. Scotland slipped again, 14-14. Then 15 -14 .

I held my breath, I didn't dare text. I didn't want anyone excited and then let down.

But then the scores flipped over.... and way hay!!!

They only went and won!

Well done girls, and good luck tomorrow against Litchenstien.

Me? I'm away for a stiff drink, and a lie down!
