6pm Sydney Central Station - Moon Visibile

The present grand Sydney Central Station was opened on 4 August 1906 with 15 terminal platforms. With the 12"electric" through platforms added in 1926 it is the largest station in Australia.

The present building was built by the New South Wales Government Railways (NSWGR) and designed by the Government Architect Walter Vernon in a neo-classical style. The 75 metre clock-tower seen here was completed in 1921.

The NSWGR ran its first passenger train in 1855 and thus has a claim to be the first publicly owned railway system.

The station is adorned with NSWGR logos in its stone and glass work.
