Peace
The bell of St James' Anglican Church at Southbridge with some autumn colour, looking quite peaceful I thought.
After a few jobs had been done Hubby and I headed out for the day. We got a little lost at times but in the end found our way. The day was beautiful, clear vibrant sky with not a breath of wind. We made our way down to the Rakaia Huts, a little fishing settlement established in the early 1900's. It is a fisherman's paradise located at the north side of the Rakaia River mouth, fishing for whitebait, flounder, trout or salmon. There is a little estuary which needs to be crossed by boat to reach the sandspit before meeting the Pacific Ocean. The water was calm and ever so blue today.
We then called in to Southbridge and saw a few historical buildings along with the St James' church. Southbridge is a small town with a population of around 720. The town serves mainly as a centre for agricultural services.
We took a road trip further south to Ashburton and headed to a small beach called Wakanui. Getting there quite late in the day the sea fog was rolling in surrounding families who had been enjoying the warmer weather of Easter fishing and picnicing on the shingle beach.
I was hoping for some really good shots today, but just couldn't get into the swing of things. We covered enough distance but my shots just seemed a little boring. Hubby asked about my shots and my description of them were 'nice' not NICE!!, just 'nice' - pretty enough but nothing special. And this has become a back blip as its now the next day, but we did have a great day out, just the two of us - thats the most important thing :)
I'll be back later today to put today's blip up and catch up with your journals :)
