Blow the man down...
Just after one oclock today I found myself unexpectedly sitting on a plastic chair inside an old grain barge, joining in (a little self-consciously) with some community singing.
It was the Ellesmere Port Boat Museum Easter Gathering plus Sea Shanty Festival. We had gone along primarily to take great photos of colourful boats, barge-enthusiast/craft skills characters, locks in action etc etc. But we ended up spending most of our time listening to some great singers, albeit in rather cold settings. A great gig, but I stuggled to get any decent shots. Using the flash seemed a bit intrusive in the intimite locations. These were hanging on the stables wall above Anna Shannon, who sang so movingly of the sea, sailors and fishermen.
Then home for HCBs.
