Orchids from Grammie Fun's Yard
When Mr. Fun arrived home at the end of the day, he came in with a bouquet from his mom's yard. Most Wednesdays he spends a portion of the late afternoon with her. She was 89 on her birthday last November 2nd. Since his dad died several years ago, she has lived alone.
She lives in a big house that she and Grandpa Fun built 50+ years ago. Grandpa Fun was a perfectionist and always kept his yard, his house, and his cars immaculate. So Grammie Fun now tries to do the same and it's just impossible. What's really frustrating is that no one can do the work to her satisfaction; that is a characteristic of Grandpa Fun's that she used to despise. Her transformation into being just like her husband has been interesting.
So there are days that my guy comes home pretty flustered. His little brother, and only sibling, died a couple years ago, so Mr. Fun is the only one "in charge" of taking care of her. He is a far cry from being "in charge" of this situation. I have previously mentioned that we are a very dysfunctional family; our family photo is in the dictionary next the word. From the oldest to the youngest, we seem to carry-on this parade of dysfunction.
The orchids grow like crazy in her yard with very little attention from anyone. This was the second week in a row that Grammie Fun has sent a bouquet to me. I think they are beautiful. After a day of working diligently grading student papers, this bouquet was delightful sight. I thought you might also enjoy this one.
Good night from Southern California.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
