Don't Panic

Today has been a such anticipated day. Today is the culmination of 2 years hard work and occassional pain. My girl didn't loose her baby teeth willingly and two years ago we started pulling them out in an attempt to reveal the adult teeth. Two of them refused to show and x-rays suggeted they were stuck in t e roof of her mouth and about to cause trouble.

So after some gruesome operation, and a couple of gold chains (get your cash for gold bags at the ready) we started the process of pulling them down into place and turning them round. The orthodontist admitted at our last appointment that he never expected to get to this stage, that he thought perhaps we would now be about to remove the new teeth as a lost cause and go down the route of implants.

But lo, for today my girl has a complete set of gnashers in the right place and for the first time in 2 years has no brace.

She should be the image. However, she doesn't quite know what to do with her new mouth. She has no idea how to smile without guarding her brace and she is very concious that her face has changed shape. So I thought I would leave her to bask in her delight and we can revisit her beautiful face sometime soon. She has been on a high almost all day. So lovely to see.

And then you remember you have no blip. This is not a sad scene, this is an experiment. I wanted to try b&w and a bit of grain. I wanted to reflect the grimness of sitting down to 16 tablets and some nippy eye drops. My eyes have been sore today so I have used my glasses in the house - a bit divaesque but hey.

There was a big moment when our much anticipated day was slightly de-railed - not all bits of news can be wonderful. So long as we don't panic there are always solutions.

But for the moment, we appreciate the excitment that a full set of perfect gnashers brings. She ate a burger without having to cut it up and chewed chewing gum with relish.
