Totally Absorbed
We took the girls to the City Art Centre in Edinburgh today to wander around one of the many family oriented events that make up this year's International Science Festival.
As you'd expect, it was packed with children of all ages running around like mad things with parents in increasingly fraught tow, so it was particularly difficult to get a decent shot of either Katie or Sarah without something or someone crossing the path of the lens just as I released the shutter.
However, unexpectedly, I managed to capture Katie, unusually quietly, expressing what can best be described as speechless awe as she watched The Chain Reactor in full flow - a machine that was quite simply, a bit bonkers, as it displayed to the kids an elaborate procession of bizarre knock-on effects.
I love the expression on her face here ..... an incredibly lively lass with boundless energy and the capacity for so much enthusiasm for life, the universe and everything .... struck dumb with seriousness as she tried to work out what the heck was going on here!
The Edinburgh International Science Festival, founded in 1989, is an educational charity that encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to discover the wonder of the world around them.
Right up Katie's street .....
