There goes the rota.
The picture above is the rota I spent quite a bit of time working on.
Why is is scrunched up you ask? I'll tell you.
Last week I had to fire an employee, he kept letting me down, not doing what he was told an was generally a waste of space. He was half an hour late one morning and did not even phone to tell me he wouldn't be in on time.
I'd had enough. At the end of his shift I informed him that it would be his last. He was sacked, fired, dismissed, out.
He did not take this news well, so much so that a conversation I had planned would take just a few minutes, took nearly 90 minutes.
I informed my area manager of the incident, she then informed me that I couldn't fire him until we went through the various disciplinary procedures. I knew this already, but I was tired, and pissed off with this guy. So I got rid of him.
Sadly I was not allowed to get rid of him due to employment laws or some other crap. So I got him in to do a disciplinary for which he was two hours late.
I told him that he was receiving an official warning, he still had a job and he would be back on the rota as of next week. He seemed happy enough with this, and apologised for his behaviour. I wasn't happy he was still in the business but I'll follow the rules.
Today was his first day back after a week off. He was supposed to be in at 12, he turned up at 10am and sat down at the back of the cafe and played with his phone for two hours. I am on a day off today but happened to be in, so I said hello and got him to sign some paperwork. he seemed happy enough. I left the cafe at 11am, leaving this guy sitting on a table playing with his phone.
As I said this is my day off, but I spent the entire morning doing the rota's for the entire month, including this guy in them, and allocating some extra time to do training with him so he has no excuses about not doing things properly.
At 5 minutes past noon I got a phone call from my supervisor saying that this guy has resigned and walked out.
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!
What. A. Dick!
That's a months worth of rota's and hours of my time wasted.
Time to redo everything!
